Works of HeART 2019: Community Event Raises Money for Youth

Fossil and Big Thought Work Hand in Hand: Host Annual Works of HeART

Appropriately titled ‘Works of HeART’, the 2019 art auction, sponsored by the Fossil Group(, raised funds for partner— Big Thought— a local, non-profit organization centered on helping youth ‘develop creative, critical-thinking and social/emotional skills’. This being the 7th annual Art Auction and Fundraiser, it’s no secret the collaboration between Fossil and Big Thought creates impactful events that are innovative, fun and, most importantly, support a worthy cause.

Impak attended the event and contributed to the funds raised through the auction. 100% of the money raised from the artwork bids went directly to Big Thought. This year, the Fossil Group raised a jaw dropping $22,000 to benefit the Creative Solutions program. Creative Solutions is an ‘arts-as-workforce intervention program for adjudicated and marginalized youth.’ To paraphrase, the Big Thought program helps youth improve their job skills and boost their self-image by tapping into their individual talents. Audrey Sherrill, Director of Operations, Process and Analytics, came to the event on behalf of Impak. She said Impak attended “ not only to donate to a good cause, but to stay connected to our client[Fossil]! And nothing helps fuel creative thought and problem solving like something in a different way- there were plenty works that made you do a double-take.”

Audrey’s favorite auction piece was a skull composed completely of watches titled ‘All In Good Time’. “It took a minute to register, but no mistaking it once you looked into the clock face ‘eye sockets’!” One particular Fossil employee, Jin-ya Huang, was a featured artist and event organizer.

“Her project management and collaboration skills certainly paid off, as event attendees were able to enjoy some tasty treats and eats, walk away with cool, custom-done pieces and leave inspired by one of a kind works,” Audrey told us. “I think one of my favorite pieces of the night was actually Jin-ya’s dress! It had an all-over WATCH print! A perfect fit for her being part of the Fossil gang.” This community project initially started as a way for Fossil Group employees to showcase their diverse talent and skills. Works of HeART does that and so much more. This year’s exhibition featured over 70 original art pieces such as paintings, woven textiles, and sculptures—all done by employees. The work done by the Fossil Group at the auction, and through their many unique products, blows us away every year —you can read more about them here
