All Decked Out in NYC
All Decked Out In NYC: A Photo Essay
By Alison Anderson
The Christmas holidays always seem to sneak up on me. How can that be,
when Walmart and Home Depot are putting Christmas trees out in early
September?! I have a personal rule that no decorations go up until after
Thanksgiving, and by the time I get around to decking the halls, I generally
feel rushed and overwhelmed. Bah, humbug!
But this year was different, and I attribute that to a NYC work trip right
around Thanksgiving. Similar to that famous NYC Sinatra song, if you don't
feel the holiday spirit there, you won't feel it anywhere!
Magic around every corner in festive window displays artfully designed to
delight and inspire people of all ages, including an ole grinch like me! Here
are a few favorites:
Saks Celebrating Snow White
Bloomingdales featuring The Greatest Showman ahead of Hugh Jackman’s
PT Barnum movie
Lord & Taylor’s Snow Globe Windows
Cartier’s City Scenes
Don’t Stop Believing at Macy’s
Along Fifth Avenue
And My Favorite...To NY With Love at Bergdorf’s
And as Scrooge would say,
"I don't know what to do! I am as light as a feather, I am as happy as an angel, I am as
merry as a school-boy. I am as giddy as a drunken man. A merry Christmas to every-body!
A happy New Year to all the world! Hallo here! Whoop! Hallo!”
Cheers to making that magic last all year long. Happy New Year!
